In the west of the country there is one of the most popular caves, which will be interesting not only for cavers. Prometheus Cave is considered the largest and most visited in Georgia. It stretched for twenty kilometers, but only a small part of it is accessible to visitors. Kumistavi is a real miraculous work of art. It attracts tourists from different countries and different ages.

According to legend, somewhere in this cave a young man was chained, who transmitted divine fire to people. With this act, he angered the gods, for which he was punished. For a long time, travelers could see the suffering of the rebellious hero, whose name was Prometheus.

The cave complex has seventeen rooms of various sizes. From other caves, the grotto of Prometheus is distinguished by the presence of wide corridors. The corridors sometimes reach about thirty meters in width and almost the same in height.

Inside the cave are underground rivers and small lakes. Kumistavi have chosen bats, but they will not bother you at all, since they fly high under the arch. The cave is very humid and cool, so dress here should be very warm.

As soon as you enter the cave, you will find yourself in a fairy kingdom. Around everything glows and sparkles with rainbow colors. From somewhere, the sounds of classical music begin to be heard, which mixes with the echo of the surprised voices of visitors.

Then there is a sharp descent leading deep into the dungeon, and majestic stalactites and stalagmites begin to appear around. Underground multi-colored lighting turns limestone figures into amazing sculptures, somewhat reminiscent of animals.

Going down the hiking trails, you can feel that the temperature is falling, and the humidity is growing. Underground crystal waterfalls appear on the way, small rivers stream and the mirror lake is silent. Despite the great depth, it breathes very easily, and the heart rejoices in amazement. In the cave, you can even take a walk along the underground lake. Sailing through the pond in a boat, you get an additional portion of delight and admiration, because this is just an unforgettable sight.
