Ali and Nino
Despite the presence of several dozen sculptures in Batumi, the most popular and interesting is the work of Georgian architects from the USA Tamara Kvesitadze. Her romantic dynamic composition of two figures & laquo; Ali and Nino & raquo; has long become a symbol of the city.
Before attracting tourists to Batumi and becoming its visiting card, the sculpture took part in the famous Venice festival, and later it aroused admiration for visitors to the London exhibition. In 2011, & laquo; Ali and Nino & raquo; received & laquo; permanent registration & raquo; in the most modern city of Georgia.
The sculpture is named after the heroes of the novel of the same name, written by an unknown author in the 30s of the last century. The plot of the original work, written in German, contains the love story of a young Muslim man (Turk) Ali Shirvanshir and Christian (Georgian) Nino Kipiani. The action takes place in Baku during the First World War, when the contradictions between Islam and Christianity reached their peak.
& nbsp; The sculptural composition consists of metal rings that make up the figures of lovers. The figures of lovers come together and pass through each other. Batumi one of the few cities in the world where Muslims and Christians live side by side in peace and harmony.
